Construction Work at JR Shibuya Station in 2021 October
A photo taken at the same spot in 2019 April is shown in “Platform No.1 of JR Shibuya Station in 2019 April.” The old photo shows gravels under track No.1. They did not exist in this photo, in 2021 October.
The removal of the gravels would be part of the preparation to alter Yamanote Line tracks. In redevelopment of Shibuya Station, Yamanote Line would be suspended three times. The first suspension took place in 2021 October, one week after I took this photo. Track No.2 was shifted, and the platform No.2 widened on the day. The second suspension was done in 2023 January. Track No.1 was shifted to make Platform No.2 wider. After the work, the old platform No.1 retired, and track No.1 and track No.2 became to share the platform.
The last suspension will be on 2023 November 18th and 19th, when the tracks and the platform will be raised.
