Hyakunin Isshu No.30 of Yoga Promenade

The poet is Mibu-no Tadamine.

 

In this poem, the author says that the dark hour just before dawn is the most depressing for him since the farewell under the moon in the dawn sky. There is a phrase “looked cold” in the poem, but it is unclear whether it means “the farewell” or “the moon” or both. Perhaps it is the intention of the author.
