Tokyo Metro 8000 Series Train at the West of Nagatsuta Station 3
The section between Shibuya and Futako-tamagawa of Tokyu Den’en-toshi Line opened in 1977 (It was called “Shin-tamagawa Line” at that time). The line extended beyond Shibuya as Eidan (old name of Tokyo Metro) Hanzomon Line in 1978. Tokyu 8500 series trains were used for the line for a while. As the traffic of the line increased, Tokyo Metro added 8000 series in 1981.
Trains that appeared at that time are retiring. Tokyu announced that the last Tokyu 8500 series will retire in 2023 January. Retirement of Tokyo Metro 8000 series started in 2021 August.
