Kita-sando Crossing, Shutoko No.4, and JR Chuo Sobu Line E231 Series Train 3
Shutoko No.4 has some devices at the top of the sidewall. After some googling, I have found that they are called “escort light” by Shutoko Company, or “pace maker light” by NEXCO (Nippon Expressway Company) East and NEXCO West. Each device is a light. They turn on in sequence to make it look like the light is moving forward. Its speed is a little faster than the cars. It is expected to prevent drivers from decelerating their cars.
According to Google Street View, they appeared here between 2017 October and 2018 April, then, they disappeared between 2021 June and 2022 October.
