Tokyu Tamagawa Station was called Tamagawa-en Station until 2000 August. Tamagawa-en was the name of an amusement park existed at the east of the station (the other side of the railroad crossing in this photo). It was closed in 1979. The name of the station changed twenty-one years after the close.
Futako-tamagawa Station has similar history. There was an amusement park named Futako-tamagawa-en beside the station, and the station was called “Futako-tamagawa-en.” The park was closed in 1986, and the station’s name was changed in 2000 August, at the same time as Tamagawa Station.
