Elevated Railroad of Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Branch Line
Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line has Ayase Depot in Adachi Ward. When the line opened in 1969, it had 2.5km long branch track to it from Ayase Station. As number of the residents around the depot increased, Kita-Ayase Station was opened in 1979. For long time, Kita-Ayase Station’s platform was just three-car long. Chiyoda Line’s ten-car trains did not stop there, so passengers had to get on a three-car train of the branch line before getting on a train of main line at Ayase Station. In 2019 March, the platform of Kita-ayase Station was extended, so that ten-car trains could stop at the station.
This photo was taken in 2018 August. Seven months before the extension completed. On the white elevated railroad with green line is Chiyoda Branch Line. This spot was about 800m south at Kita-Ayase Station.
