Keikyu Airport Line Track near Keikyu-kamata Station
Before the elevated part of Keikyu-kamata station started the service, Keikyu Airport line used single track near the station. The single track was changed to double track at the end of the railroad crossing shown in “Route 15 and Keikyu-kamata Station under Construction.” This photo shows the spot where the single track and the double track were connected.
Now lower deck of the elevated railroad has started the service, the right track is not used anymore. If you enlarge the picture, you will find the right track is blocked by a bar.
One interesting thing is that this track and the track on the elevated railroad do not make a simple double track. Due to the restriction by the layout in Keikyu-kamata station, this track is used by trains from Shinagawa to Haneda and trains from Haneda to Yokohama. So, trains for both directions (for Haneda and from Haneda) share this track. It is used like a single track, not like a track in a double track. Now the right track is removed, the single track section gets longer in a sense. Making trains’ schedule may be hard.
