Ticket Gate Closed after 13:00 Today
On April 10th, switching the Tokyo Monorail track at the new international terminal was carried out. The work consists of removing twelve concrete tracks and two long span steel tracks, installing nineteen concrete tracks and a long span steel track, connecting the power lines, and test. You can see description of the work in a document (pdf) by Tokyo Monorail. It is written in Japanese, but I think the figure is understandable.
The service between Showa-jima station and Haneda Airport Terminal 2 station was stopped after 13:00. They planned to finish all the work before the next day's first train which would run about 5:00. So they had 16 hours. Actually, the work delayed and some train had to be canceled before the service finally restarted at 6:15. Considering the amount of the work, it is still amazing.
This picture shows the ticket gate in Tenku-bashi station. The sign tells that the service is stopped and passengers can use buses instead.
