Asuka-yama Monorail

This picture was taken through a window of JR train stopping at Oji station, so the view is greenish and things inside the car are reflected on it.

The vehicle is called "Asuka-yama Monorail". Asuka-yama is a small hill in front of JR Oji station. It has a park on its top. Though the height is only 18m, the slope is steep here. So Kita city office made this vehicle for people going to the park.

The city office prefers to call it monorail, but strictly speaking, it is an incline elevator. The manufacturer is Kaho Manufacturing Co., Ltd., a Fukuoka based company. They are well-known as a manufacturer of monorail type incline elevator. Examples are shown in their web site at www.kaho-monorail.com/Delivery-example.html and www.kaho-monorail.com/new01.html.

Recently, Kita city office announced that they would call the line "Asuka Park Rail", and the car "Asucargot". They also announced that more than 133,000 people used the vehicle during these six months.
