JR Musashi-koganei Station North Exit

Some stations in Tokyo/Kanagawa/Saitama area have “Musashi-“ at the head. Musashi-koganei is one of such stations.

 

Japanese National Railways did not allow two stations have the same name. The name of this area is “Koganei,” but the name “Koganei” was already assigned. So, “Musashi-,“ the old name of Tokyo/Kanagawa/Saitama area, was prepended to the name. By the way, Koganei Station exists in Tochigi Prefecture. It is about 80km north of this spot.
