Kawajiro

A 5m long dead great white shark was found in Chidori Canal of Kawasaki in October 2005. Now the shark is stuffed and displayed in the entrance hall of "Kawasaki Marien".

They asked people to give a name to the shark, and the decided name is "Kawajiro". "Kawa" comes from "Kawasaki", and "Jiro" comes from "Hojiro-zame", which means great white shark in Japanese. "Jiro" also is a male name, and "Kawajiro" sounds like a name of a pet. It is interesting that people regard a shark as a pet.
