Toei Oedo Line Aoyama-icchome Station

Linear motor car is used in Oedo line. The long box at the center of the track should be the linear motor equipment.

 

The advantage of linear motor is it requires smaller space under the floor. It makes the height of the train shorter, the tunnel smaller, and the construction cost cheaper.
