Tokyu 5000 Series Train and Doors on Platform in Tokyu Den’en-toshi Line Miyamae-daira Station
This photo was taken in Miyamae-daira Station of Tokyu Den’en-toshi Line. Tokyu Corporation installed those doors on the platform in 2015 November. They are a little different from the doors in other stations: about 1m wide space is allocated between the doors and the edge of the platform so that passengers could walk through the space.
This is Tokyu’s newest trial for platform door that can handle both six-door car and four-door car. Most cars of Den’en-toshi Line train have four doors on one side, but some six-door cars still remain. The variation made it difficult to install doors on platform. Tokyu had some experiment like wire-type doors which is shown in “Tobu 50050 Series Train and New Platform Screen Door.”
The space between doors and the train may solve the door-position problem, but it has some disadvantage. For example, the system requires staffs to watch every passenger has walked out of the space. If you look at this photo closely, you will find staffs standing on platform.
