Zoshigaya Iroha-karuta at Bikkuri-Gaado
The road at the south of Seibu-Ikebukuro and JR Ikebukuro Station is called “Bikkuri(surprising)-Gaado(girder bridge).” I do not know what was surprising here. The road has T-shaped intersection between the two railroads, and this photo was taken there. The road shown in this photo is the vertical part of “T.” “Bikkuri-Gaado,” the horizontal part of “T,” is the road from the right to the left at the bottom of this photo.
The painting on the other side of the road is “Zoshigaya Iroha-karuta.” Karuta is old Japanese playing cards. There are forty seven cards describes something in Zoshigaya area, and each card represents one Hiragana letter related to the described thing.
