Asano Canal

Since this area was developed by Asano So-ichiro, things in this area were named after him. The canal is called “Asano Canal,” the town on the left of the canal is Asano-cho (“cho” means “town” in Japanese). The town on the other side of the canal is Ogi-machi. The name means “Ogi (fan)-machi (town).” Fan was the symbol of Asano Family. The reclaimed land beyond Ogi-machi is called “Ogi(fan)-shima(island).”
