Ajax Steam Locomotive
Steam engine Ajax: Built in 1841 by Jones, Turner & Evans in England for the Kaiser Ferdinands Nordbahn, this is the oldest original locomotive on the European continent and exhibits the typical English engineering patterns of that time. Withdrawn from service in 1874, she was conserved for a planned railway museum and therefore still exists. The pole to the left of the unit is a typical "balloon signal" of that time.
