Cuba Loves .... Tobacco!
Cuba owes its expertise in cigar production to the Taino Indians, its indigenous people who were amongst the first to grow tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) in a form suitable for smoking. High quality tobacco is extremely difficult to grow and can require over 150 hands-on encounters during the growing season and fields are plowed by oxen rather than tractors to avoid soil compaction.
