Kapiti Island - 60km away as the crow flies

It's winter here and mostly cold grey wet and/or windy, but today was perfect! Sunny all day - NO clouds! And NO wind! It was so nice I decided to go to the beach (I think I was last there in February).

With the wild weather we've had the beach has changed quite a bit - the stream has moved, and there are trees and driftwood everywhere.

With such a fine still clear day I could see forever. As well as Kapiti I could see the top of the South Island (about 130km away) , the lower North Island snow topped ranges, and Mount Taranaki (around 155km away). All distances are approx. as the crow flies.
