UNITED KSW6B
Another phoptograph that was given to me, looks a bit like "Heart of the Pennines" running day outside Halifax to me.
The main subject is an ex UAS lowbridge ECW bodied KSW6B. I think these were actually delivered as KSW5G's, but were the subject of engine swaps with a similar number of Bristol L6B's', in the late fifties, the latter becoming L5G's after the swap.
Whilst there were plenty of highbridge KSW's on Tyneside, I do not remember any lowbridge types. Allthough it has to be said there were a lot of the earlier lowbridge K's on Tyneside.
I can only deduce from this that most of the lowbridge KSW's were allocated to United's Teeside depots. I know they seemed to frequent Darlington a lot.
Notice the East Yorkshire AEC Renown and Leeds Corporation Regent V, behind the KSW. Rumour has it that the KSW might now reside in Switzerland.
