"Tengu Warrior" drawing
Tengu were menacing ninja that dressed up as demonic crows in order to spread fear amongst their enemies. There is still an existing mythology about them in modern Japan, except it was really the work of disinformation and psychological warfare practiced by Shinobi (ninja clan) agents. This guy hasn't got on his crow garb, but was apparently one them guys who did it (Mihiyona).
He's assumed a form of ichimunji kamae (Taijutsu defensive posture).
(Read a fair amount about these guys, hence the over explanation...)
I did this a while back (2006), only recently re discovered it.
Ballpoint pen and digital print on paper, 2006, 46 x 36cm (inc frame), sold.
The guy & his armor are done in black Bic ballpoint. His clothing is a print done directly onto the paper (from a regular inkjet printer), the scheme is from a Tibetan pattern.
