there are so many who see these little ones as pests.....let me tell you they are as wonderful as your dog or cat....they play, they love, they're intelligent (and clever). They have a really hard life....what with hateful humans who set glue traps, regular traps, shoot them with BB guns or hunt them in general. They have to deal with cars, cats and dogs who catch them for sport, predators who catch them for food. The babies fall out of nests and sustain head and internal injuries, they may also suffer malocclusion and odontomas as a result of a jaw injury. Squirrels are prone to diseases such as squirrel pox or viruses from raccoons, etc. They also have a difficult time finding water and food sources. In the wild most of them don't make it to a year old, some make it to 3, 5 at the most. Their lifespan can actually be 18 to 20 years. Please, please be kind and compassionate to these little loving beings..... and pass it on. Thank you.
