Just a badge-engineered Mitsubishi Fuso Canter. It was born of the relationship between Mitsubishi, Sterling, and Daimler AG - Daimler purchased Sterling from Ford in 1997. Daimler also owns Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation.
Rather than develop a whole new small cabover for Sterling's lineup, Daimler decided to rebadge the Mitsubishi Fuso Canter, which is one of the most globally successful cabovers in existence. Unfortunately for Daimler and for Sterling, the process was not all that successful. Daimler decided to end the Sterling brand in 2009.
