Lots of Love

The journey with this quilt has been 8 years. It has been a goal of mine for two years now to get one of my quilts professionally long arm quilted. My family helped make it happen for my birthday in October. Thank you to my high school classmate Janet for her expertise.

I have quite a few quilt tops completed but when I asked myself which one held the most sentiment this was it.

These blocks were given to me in 2016 by the women in my Tuesday quilt group. While sharing the blocks received on Flickr more quilting online friends offered to also make blocks. I have to say a huge thank you to everyone who prayed for me during that very scary time in my life.

I get my mammogram next week and see my oncologist for my 6 month checkup the week after. It still makes me scared. I feel my anxiety go up as the days get closer. I try not to but if you’ve been there you understand.

I chose the stripe binding in honor of Jan who gave a courageous battle against breast cancer. She liked to bind her quilts with stripe fabric on the diagonal. This one is in remembrance of you. I also want to remember Wendy who started our quilt group back in 1993. She also battled breast cancer. There are two other Quilting Babes who are in heaven as well. Kitty gave me rides to our Babes Tuesday gatherings when I was too exhausted to drive. I miss these Babes. Judy, I saved every quilt Christmas card you sent and they will come out to celebrate this holiday season.
