I put in some batting and if you notice on the lower edge of the Kawandi I added my first floating square. This one represents my Mother Mary Lou who went to heaven on Oct 31st peacefully at home with her children and grands.
I watched another video with Margaret Fabrizio this morning. When she went back to India a year later to visit the Siddi women and show them some of the Kawandis she made they said the stitching was too wide (she then added another stitch line between all the existing ones) and that the inner layer needed more weight. Margaret then explained in the video that the Siddi put layers of trash materials/fabric as an inner layer and not batting.
