This mornings sewing. I finished 3 alternate blocks for the Triple Irish chain. This pile has 39 completed blocks. I have 8 of the alternates done plus the 3. It feels good to get a few blocks completed for this ongoing project.
There is a formula I follow. I completed one quilt which was a two sided quilt for my niece as a graduation gift. www.flickr.com/photos/27565576@N02/albums/72157648998531866
She graduated in 2001 and I finished it a few years later. I sent it home with her basted and bound but not quilted when she was battling cancer about 5 years ago she wanted it in whatever stage it was in for comfort. She was able to use it as it was. Each block has one cat fabric, one solid yellow and 3 additional yellow, one solid red and 3 additional red, and then all the other colors at least one of each blue, green, orange purple and if I have it a pink, brown and black. I also add one other solid in another color just for fun. The alternating blocks I have been doing in 30s and softer pastels to lighten it up a bit. I have so many blocks made or ready to be made I will do a third quilt for another niece once this one is done. I am cutting the alternate white backgrounds as I go along. Some day I would even like one for myself!
