Forest Park Carousel

These are two of the beautiful horses of the Forest Park Carousel in Woodhaven, Queens. On June 25, 2013, the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission voted to designate the carousel as a landmark. Daniel C. Muller, one of the most famous creators during the Golden Age of these attractions, carved these horses out of wood for the carousel. It opened in a Massachusetts park in 1910, where it operated until 1971. A concessionaire found out about this carousel and negotiated to bring it to the Queens park, where it opened in 1973.
