8/52 ~ Saxon afternoon

so 2 things happened: 1. I turned 50 years old; and 2. 3 days later I fractured my arm at the elbow riding my elliptigo bike (think an elliptical machine at the gym crossed with a push-bike, or a stand-up bike?)

The turning 50 got me a nice new camera a Canon 5D but I've barely had a chance to play what with the fractured arm and all

the elliptigo is kinda better designed for paved paths, I was riding (as I have done since I got it in 2018) on gravel, downhill, and in the shadowy bits I could tell (without actually being able to see) the heavy rains Spring last year had gouged canyons into the path like a dry river bank, so I felt that I needed to slow down, so I did, but it wasn't enough, front wheel went into a rut and headed left, I went right and down, didn't seem too bad, got up quickly, found a bit of bloody grazing on my right leg, and both palms, and yeh, my arm hurt a bit but felt it would come good - of course, I was about half way with no phone so had to ride all the way back home before getting my mum to take me to the docs, who referred me to the closest x-ray (about 1/2 hr drive away) who didn't have a specialist on, so around the corner to a different imaging place who sent me back to the ED because the x-ray revealed a fracture in the arm/elbow, then a cast and home again finally.

I've been bored and frustrated for this past week basically. Early in the week it was nice weather and I'd intended to get a few last things done left over from my birthday leave, couldn't do it, then add on an extra weeks personal leave and still got nothing done.

Tonight, feeling like I can do a bit more, the cast comes off tomorrow, a re-visit to the doc and maybe physio to see what and how much of what I can do, like drive to work?

I've managed to get the boys out on their separate walks most days, but the camera has had to stay home. I did get a couple of passable mobile pics just in case, but hate to do that with my new 5D doing nothing, so made an effort yesterday afternoon and posed the boys for their pics. So although this pic is very similar to one of him a month ago I'm happy with it

Saxon had to go to the vet too this week, to re-check how his arthritis in his spine is going, he's been on Beranza, but with his recent flare-up I wondered if it was actually working, he's still on anti-inflammatories and they do well, and he's wearing booties on his rear feet to stop him scraping on the pavement on walks - he kept coming home with bloody toe-nails worn beyond the quick, ouch! But the booties are great, and he wears them well :-)

Here's to being 50 hahaha
