Lomo Lubitel 166

Today I played with a other setup with my home-made lighttent. The camera is a Lomo Lubitel 166 Universal. This is a two lens reflex camera (TLR) and uses 120 film with a format of 6cm by 6cm. The design was based of the Voightlander Brilliant from the 1930s.

The lens is 75mm/f4.5. This camera is manufactered from 1984 until 1988. I bought this brand-new in the early nineties on a fleamarket. Curious detail is that the model is today available as 166+ and manufactured by the Lomograpic Society (www.lomography.com).

Today the lomo lenses and effects are very popular to create a effect on photos.

The setup is as follows:

The background is a silver-colored matted papersheet. The camera and box stands on glass plate for a nice reflection at the bottom.

Two monolights stands left and right of the diffusion panels. The right monolight has a 20cm reflector with a 15 degree grid. I used a grid to control better the light and to create a hasher light. The left light has only a standard 15 cm reflector.

A black covered book, at the right, is used to create a shadow on the right of the camera.

The flagged SB800 strobe in the front, is used to lighten up the front and to create catchlights in metal ring on the upper lens and on the lower lens.

Camera setttings: 85mm lens. F9.0, 1/250sec. In post-process I added a lomo effect.
