Black-throated Blue Warbler - Blue Ridge Parkway

Had an opportunity last Monday to do a little birding just east of Asheville, N.C. after attending a conference in Tennessee the previous 4 days. I have always wanted to get additional Black-throated Blue Warbler shots as I really had only one decent image I took in PA several years ago.

It took me quite a few miles and listening for singing until I finally found this guy in the preferred Rhododendron thickets on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Elevation there was at least 3,500-4,000 feet above sea level.

No question, this is one lovely bird!!

EXIF data shows bird 11.2 meters away or 36.7 feet.
