Hall B (CLAS12)

CLAS12 stands for CEBAF (Continuous Electron beam Accelerator Facility) Large Acceptance Spectrometer, 12 GeV. It accepts an electron beam at ~11GeV (12GeV is only available in Hall D).

 

Ok, So what does it mean? To be honest, I'm not entirely sure...I could try to explain it, but you would be better off going to the CLAS12 Experiment page below:

The big grey thing on the right is my current project... In total, there are 6 large coils being built at Fermilab in collaboration with Jefferson Lab for the torus in this detector. They are about 6' by 12' and approximate a 24' doughnut after installation.
