Just for the Record... 1
One of the first records I bought, and still in the original sleeve. In 1964 the family's first record player arrived - a decent Ferguson unit, fitted with a more than decent Garrard deck. My parents allowed myself and my sister to choose any new single we fancied to celebrate the new acquisition. I was a Beatles fan, but so were my parents. As they were buying Beatles singles, I went for The Stones, choosing "Its All Over Now". Unfortunately I can't now locate that single, but have found the second Stones single I bought, "The Last Time". This turned out to be "the last time" I bought a Rolling Stones disc. Decca was famous for turning down The Beatles, but didn't miss the boat with The Stones. "The Last Time" topped the UK chart in 1965.
