First Potteries 61239
Look above ground floor level and you often see architectural wonders - here's another in Stoke town centre. Though the ground floor is still used as shops, the first and second floors have long been boarded up. The centre pediment shows the date 1899, and underneath the centre window is a stone carving showing that this is "Jacksons Buildings". The more modern building to the left was once the site of one of Stoke's many pubs and a large statue of potter Colin Minton Campbell. The building dates from the 1960s when it housed a new type of store: Tesco - Home & Wear, a non-food outlet of Britain's now biggest retailer.
Hanley bound, passing through Stoke-upon-Trent town centre on 9 July 2010, is First Potteries 61239 (S689BFS) a Scania/Wright Axcess utralow.
