First's early fleet numbers (6)

First Group introduced their national fleet numbering system during 2002. The honour of being the first to be incorporated fell to First PMT, so many of the early numbers were allocated to the Potteries fleet. The series for articulated buses began with 10000, but PMT had none of these. Fleet number 10000 therefore went to a First Manchester Volvo with Wright Fusion body. Fourteen of these were delivered in 1999 and based at Bury. Further deliveries of the type were made, plus one on a Scania chassis. The Scania was 10017 (X401CSG) which I photographed at a rally in Keighley on 20 June 04.
