GRAND CHAMPION HAMPSHIRE SOW CALIFORNIA STATE FAIR IN THE 1950'S

AND ALSO GRAND CHAMPION AT THE GRAND NATIONAL LIVESTOCK EXPOSITION IN SAN FRANCISCO AT THE COW PALACE..

BEAUTIFUL MARY was her name and I was a young girl. My father raised many champion registered Hampshire hogs on our ranch, and showed them all over the state at the fairs. This one was also featured in a University of California textbook as the perfect example of a Hampshire...these days they are going for lean ones....Dad also gave a lot of pigs to 4-H ers and FFA ers...He was also a livestock judge at some fairs. I could stand behind her and you could only see my upper chest, neck and head when I was 10-11 years old...she was that tall...:)
