Sears totecycle

This is a photo of my “utility fixie”. It is a 1960ish take-apart bike called a “TOTE Cycle” made for Sears. I already have a small-wheel sporty fixie for park/trail riding (Raleigh Twenty) – but I wanted a simple inexpensive small wheeler for grocery hauling errands from the local market. Original paint, lighter alloy wheels and seatpost, some wider bars, 1.95 wide Primo Comets tires width and a HUGE rear mounted basket – and I had my bike. Bottom bracket is a one-piece conversion unit that allows the use of a three piece allow crank – a wonderful bike product. Gearing is 52/15 – with 405 wheels is fairly low gearing. I really like the ride of the bike – as good as my Raleigh Twenty fixie. The deco-curved tubes that flow into the built-in bike rack and the ability to “split” the bike into two halves – create a unique bike

Note: several request have come in on the conversion unit I used to convert the 1-piece bottom bracket over to the 3-piece bottom bracket.

Below is a link to the TruVativ unit that I used in my ToteCycle build up.
