Leyland Olympian H669BNL - 05-05-19 (02)
Preserved former Busways/Stagecoach North East Northern Counties Palatine bodied Leyland Olympian, 669 (H669BNL), seen here entering the Metrocentre Coach Park, having worked a trip on the free bus tour around the local area as part of the North East Bus Preservation Trust's North East Bus and Coach Show on the 5th May 2019.
Originally new to Sunderland Busways in 1991 as a conventional closed top double decker, the bus passed to Stagecoach upon takeover of Busways and in 2007 was rebuilt to open top layout for use on the Newcastle-Gateshead City Sightseeing service - a role it continued in for a decade right up to 2017. Now preserved, 669 has been painted in 'Economic' colours - a livery it never actually carried in service, although sister vehicles 675 and 676 did as conventional closed top double deckers.
