2022 Puzzle Parley: Artifact Speed Puzzling Competition

The final event of Saturday evening was the Artifact Puzzles sponsored speed puzzling competition. There were about 20 teams of 3 who each received this puzzle in an unmarked box; Artifact owner Maya Gupta in her introduction said the puzzle was so new it hasn't even been named yet.

I'm pretty sure that my team, "The Anti-Chaos Society," was the only one short of its third member, so it was I and Rebecca Tushnet. Whether not having a third person was a handicap or a benefit is difficult to say, but we did quite well, finishing in 3rd place and each receiving a $50 coupon on the Artifact site, which I am eager to redeem. Rebecca graciously allowed me to take home the contest puzzle. Considering that Rebecca and I had never puzzled together and that she'd just had cataract surgery last week, I think we did really well. Our completion time was just over 31 minutes. The puzzle was great fun to work on, I liked the egg figurals, scalloped edges and the artwork reminded me a lot of the French pointillists or Séraphine. I haven't counted the pieces to the puzzle yet and my photo doesn't do it justice due to the intense overhead shadow, but I'll assemble it again and update this photo.
