BBQ Light

Trying out one of the fantastic gifts I received over the holidays, the Barbecue Light. It is a LED light that attaches to the handle of the BBQ lid. It senses when the lid is closed and automatically turns the light off; once it detects the lid is raised, it turns the light on.

Today was very warm for a January day in Edmonton, it must have been around 5 degrees C when I was cooking supper. Perfect evening to try out this new device.

I tried about 10 shots while BBQing. For the first images in the series, I just had the lid open and the light was shining onto the food - it was a pretty boring image. Then I closed the lid and build up the smoke inside, I had my daughter's visiting friend lift the lid and I took several pictures like that - it was better. Then I had my daughter flip one of the hamburger patties over, the fat from the hamburger ignited into flames - the smoke rose and was lit up by the BBQ Light - this resulted in a more interesting picture.

I forgot to change the time in the camera when we switched to Day Light Savings Time. Image was actually shot at 18:37.
