The Welcoming Committee
At Dauset Trails Nature Center our all-time favorite spot to visit is the Lotus Pond. A nice sized pond located at the end of a short trail, bordered on one side with towering pines and on the other side by an open grassy field.
Here is where you can find all kinds of beauties, and little beasties, if only you know where to look. Once we approached the pond I grabbed this shot of the welcoming committee - a couple of their water lilies.
Upon editing this later, I noticed a rather 'large' looking spider lurking on the edge of one of the lily pads in front of and to the left of the pink waterlily. And then, I noticed what looks like a small damselfly just to the left of the white waterlily!
This is one of the many things I've come to love about the Lotus Pond - every time we visit, there will be at least one "find" in one of the photos that I didn't see when we were there.
