Cold Weathered Friends

At the arboretum, we usually see three Mallards keeping close company whether napping on the bank or swimming back and forth like they were doing this time.

It was an unusually chilly, breezy day, very fitting for the last weekend of winter. The cold would have been OK, but that wind had a bite to it.

The waterfowl at the lake seemed to feel it, too, as everyone more or less stayed in the same vicinity. There was a Great White Egret foraging in the marshy area, two Canada Geese were milling around the heron, almost like if the heron can find food, so can we. And then these ducks kept a close watch, too, not wanting to miss out on anything.
