Still Beautiful

In spite of the damage to this Eastern Tiger Swallowtail's wings, it was still quite beautiful as it flitted from flower to flower.

 

Butterflies have such short lives, so I'm not sure if the condition of the wings is due to "old age" or a result of something else?

 

Seen in the Children's Garden at Dauset Trails Nature Center.
