Utopia by Jan Theuninck, 2016

acrylic on canvas, 70 x 100 cm, 2016

"According to Freud, civilizations and societies come about due to an uneasy stalemate between the instincts of life and death (Eros and Thanatos). Basically, human consciousness and behavior are directed by the search for pleasure and the avoidance of pain. The Marcusans decided to co-opt this basal tendency and use it as a tool for building the utopian society they wish to see replace Western civilization."

Utopia is a painting I made in 2016 to express my fear for a totalitarian state, based on my lifelong experiences which I described in a short opening text I wrote for the French book "Rimbaud et moi" (ut infra). I think this NWO project is part of the blind pursuit of single thought
