Tilt Shift Black & White Photography

Keep seeing 'LensBaby' shots, (that'd be you Rob!), and tilt shift used in exactly the opposite way I learned with a large format camera! (Scheimpflug principles.) Yet I seem strangely attracted to them especially as I'm seeing the attraction of shallow DOF recently.

However not wanting to spend a fortune on a LensBaby, (or justifying it for experimental purposes!), I had a play around with an old 35mm film Minolta fit Tokina 28mm wideangle lens. It has had a broken aperture ring since forever and sat around doing nothing, so why not. So pulling it to bits, (as I do!), and bolting it to the front of a short bellows I took a few shots.

I must say I really like the effect! I might even make it a proper conversion and be sure to post up either the build or finished result.

Broken Tokina 28mm @ f2.8 held in place by hand on a short bellow for a true tilt/shift effect. On the Olympus e410 this lens equates to a 56mm FOV. Stripping the lens mount has meant that it can even be focused to infinity and the coverage circle is more than ample for a good tilt/shift/rise & fall.
