The Collectivity Project

Model at the press event before being opened to the general public.

I recently had the good fortune of contributing a LEGO model to the North American debut of The Collectivity Project, which will be on the High Line from May 29 to September 30. Inspired by several residential towers by the firm I work for, Robert A.M. Stern Architects, as well as a little Lutyens influence at the crown, this is the end product of being given a big box full of white bricks and no specific guidelines for a design (other than fitting on a 48 x 48 baseplate). In addition to RAMSA, there are models from Bjarke Ingles Group, David M. Schwarz Architects, Diller Scofidio + Renfro, James Corner Field Operations, OMA New York, Renzo Piano Building Workshop, Selldorf Architects, SHoP, and Steven Holl Architects.

Now that the models are on display, the general public is free to build their own creations to contribute to the skyline or add to or tear down what has already been created. I encourage anyone in NYC in the coming months to stop by and put your mark on the installation.
