The historic waterfront of Willemstad, Curaçao, featuring Fort Amsterdam and the colorful Handelskade buildings.
Fort Amsterdam is the oldest building on the island, built in 1634 by the Dutch West India Company.
It currently serves as the seat of the government and the governor of Curaçao.
Left is the Queen Emma Pontoon Bridge, connecting the city's Punda and Otrobanda districts across St. Anna Bay.
The bridge is for pedestrians only and swings open laterally to allow ships to enter and leave the bay.
When the bridge is open, free ferries transport people across the water.
The colorful colonial-style buildings in the background are part of the historic city center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
