The 16th century Palace of Kapviri Djewe at Iconi on southwestern Grande Comore, was once the seat of the Sultans of Bambao.

Only the old walls made out of local stones are left.

In 1886, Sultan Said Ali bin Said Omar of Anjouan united the sultanates of Grand Comore into the state of Ngazidja.

He was the first and last sultan tibe or paramount king of the whole island of Ngazidja (Grande Comore).

And he was the last Sultan using this palace (till 1892 and he died on Madagascar in 1916).
