Iracema, la regina guerriera (Fortaleza) - Iracema, the warrior queen (Fortaleza)
Josè Alencar, novelliere brasiliano, racconta di un conquistador portoghese che approdò a Fortaleza ancora abitata dagli indios e ne conquistò la regina, tale Iracema, donna guerriera e bellissima che gli diede un figlio...detta storia, completamente inventata, ebbe un tal successo da queste parti da dare il nome di Iracema alla spiaggia più bella di Fortaleza (vedi foto precedente) ed a dedicare alla regina guerriera ben due statue. Qui, da 3 punti di vista diversi, vedete la prima statua stilizzata ed a mio parere molto bella, che mostra la regina guerriera armata d'arco. Nella seconda statua, che trovo molto meno importante di questa e che non penso di postare, si vede Iracema col figlioletto in braccio che guarda tristemente il capitano portoghese che, ormai sulla nave, li sta abbandonando. Come già saprete, non tutti gli uomini di mare sono gentiluomini come il vostro amico Marino! (e questo l'ho scritto per strapparvi un sorriso:))

José Alencar, a Brazilian storyteller, tells about a Portuguese conquistador who landed in Fortaleza, still inhabited by the Indians, and conquered the queen, a certain Iracema, a beautiful warrior woman who gave him a son... this story, completely invented, got so great success in these parts that the most beautiful beach in Fortaleza was named Iracema (see previous photo) and 2 statues were dedicated to the warrior queen. Here, from 3 different points of view, you can see the first one, stylised and in my opinion very beautiful, which shows the warrior queen armed with a bow.
In the second statue, which I find much less interesting than this one and which I don't think I'll post, is visible Iracema with her baby in her arms who sadly looks at the Portuguese captain who, onboard his ship, is abandoning them.
As you already know, not all seamen are gentlemen like your friend Marino is :)) lol
