This is a task switching model based on a side panel as initially suggested in Owen Williams' photo blog: ywwg.com/wordpress/?p=717
This2nd iteration combines elements of the Windows7 taskbar style grouping. But instead of making the unfocused windows invisible, it uses a zooming effect taken from Compiz' Alt-Tab Switcher. The background would become blurry (Gaussian blur) and be overshadowed. The clicked-on app windows would them jump to the fore, being very crisp and casting bigger than usual shadows over the blurry desktop background.
