Never Assume Anything
Absolutely never. The engine had been smoking again, and losing power. To my surprise, the nuts holding the forward injector in place were alarmingly loose. The rear injector was fine. It was clear that one of the cylinders woudn't have been firing properly, as the problematic injector was heavily caked. A really big lesson to be had here. I removed the injectors by loosening them, then turned the engine over by hand with the decompression lever raised on one cylinder. It’s important that the injectors are still in their retainers, otherwise the cylinder pressure will send an injector off like a rocket.
