RowenaCrest, Columbia River Gorge
I have wanted to make it here for the wildflowers for years, but each spring, it just did not work out. This year my friend Bonnie and I made sure to get there in time. Oh, it was so worth setting the clock for 4am!!! All I could keep saying is "OH WOW!" The balsam root is almost done but the lupine is just beginning. What a beautiful combination. They stretch on for acres and acres. Topped of with clear blue sky. Where the flowers end is the edge of the cliff that drops down to the Columbia River. The green plateau cliffs are on the other side of the river in Washington state. This is on the Oregon side. The mountain top shown is Mt.Adams.
